Mission Statement: The Traffic Engineering Departments mission is to provide for the safe and efficient movement of pedestrians, cyclists and vehicular traffic within the City of Macon and Bibb County.
Traffic Engineering is responsible for identifying and investigating locations for needed traffic improvements. Traffic Engineering also perform detailed traffic studies (traffic signal warrant analysis, multi-way stops, delay studies, speed studies, intersection safety, and parking).
The Traffic Engineering Department is responsible for improving arterial traffic flow and reducing fuel and other related costs to motoring public through planning, design, signal timing, and installation of computerized traffic signal systems and other traffic system projects.
