The City of Macon is proposing to maintain the same property tax rate that has been used for the millage rate for the last year five years. However, since the property tax revaluation has increased the value of some people’s property the same millage rate would result in an increase in the amount of taxes paid for some property owners. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held in City Council Chambers, City Hall, 700 Poplar Street, Macon, Georgia on March 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., and March 16, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. The original dates where changed due to an error in required advertisement that ran early this week.
