A press conference will be held by the City of Macon, Volunteer Macon, United Way, and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on Thursday, February 16 at 3:00 p.m. at the Buck Melton Community Center regarding free tax preparation services, underutilized tax credits, and an upcoming tax preparation day for the community.

On Saturday, February 18, the first in a series of Super Saturday Tax Preparation Days will be hosted at the Buck Melton Community Center from 12:30-4:30 p.m. (The last appointment time will be 3:30 p.m. to sign up for tax preparation assistance.) Local Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) organizations will be on hand to help citizens complete and file their taxes, as well as to identify if they qualify for the EIC or CTC. Consumer Credit Counseling Service will be presenting “So It’s Tax Time” at 2:30 pm, offering tips on managing your refund.
“We want to make sure our community is aware of the credits for which they could be eligible,” says Macon Mayor Robert Reichert. “Additionally, we want them to know of the free tax preparation services in our community that are staffed with people trained and certified by the IRS.”
