It's an awe-inspiring sight. A line of Macon Police Department cars and other
support vehicles stretching across a parking lot as a precinct undergoes a "line inspection".
What's a line inspection?
The Macon Police Department undergoes a "line inspection" twice a year - in
the spring and in the fall to physically inspect each individual officer, his
or her uniform, equipment, and the vehicle to which he or she is assigned.
Each officer's weapon is inspected to insure that it is in proper working
order. The inspection also is a means of accounting for departmental
equipment. These bi-annual inspections insure compliance with departmental
policies and standards.
